old Black Swan Tavern? Is this the original site of the old tavern? I love pictures like this as well as other historical sites. Thanks for sharing. :clapping: Kelley (Texas) :)

Here settlers struggled against the harsh backcountry to survive. Cherokee Indians hunted and fought to keep their land, two towns and a trading post were formed and abandoned to the elements. Two Revolutionary War battles that claimed over 100 lives took place at this location.

On June 18, 1781, 50 men called the Forlorn Hope rushed forward to attack the Star Fort. They were led by Lt Isaac Duval of 1st MD & Lt Samuel Selden of 1st VA. The name Forlorn Hope means that many would be wounded or killed in the attack.

The fort and trading post is still here. It is located in 96 South Carolina.

What a fantastic historic building.I see many buildings like this in western films......it's good to actually see the genuine article.

I love the old building but why did they have to put a sidewalk of concrete there? I brick walkway or some woodchips would have been better. JMHO.
