Standing Liberty with the Compadre

JMC

New member
I took a few minutes after work today to run the Compadre around the yards. First hit was this worn Standing Liberty at around 8 inches. I've worked with the Compadre quite a bit since getting it in late December. Getting the sound figured out so when this one hit I knew it had to be a coin of some kind. Along with it I dug 8 Memorial pennies in the same area and a 1964 Jefferson nickel. I've been running the unit just in front of the nickel setting on the dial. When it hits I'll roll the dial to see when the signal changes. Depth I get by lifting the coil. Makes for a very simple way of finding stuff. Of course I also dug a lot of other stuff but that's half the fun.

I would just spend it... It sure was a good thing you were using the compadre. If it was one of them fancy things you would have missed it. Just kidding... It sure is a fun detector to use.. What size coil does yours have... Just think,,, That little detector is finding what them other guys want to find... KEN:tesoro:

This one has the eight inch coil. It very much reminds me of working with my old Garrett Treasure Ace 100. It's just a bunch lighter and only uses one 9 volt instead of two. I also find the donut coil a tad easier to pinpoint with and in most cases am right on the target. So far at a few months now very happy with the Compadre.

That sure got my attention!
Quite an endorsement of the C8.
I'm thinking quite a bit about picking one up.
Hmmm... New coil for the Sov or a Compadre??
Tough choice!

nice find the Compadre is the best in its price range hands down

Great find JMC! Thanks for posting the story and pics. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a Compadre
