Standard tone or high tone?

I got the Vaquero about a month ago. Was able to listen to each one
at the dealer. I picked the high tone. A big difference in my opinion.
The high tone was much crisper and much easier to hear. My ears had
to strain a little more to hear the subtle differences with the low
tone. I have heard that a lot of guys were getting the high tone.

Got the high tone on the Vaquero and the low tone on the Cibola. Like 'em both.

I'm bidding on one on ebay and as of yet I'm still leading.
Really hope I like the Vaquero.
First machine without a screen...
Wish me luck...

Thanks

Bruce

Bruce, Have you considered the Cortes. I went from an Ace250 to a
Vaquero and then finally a Cortes. I loved the Vaquero. It is a
rock solid machine and hardly makes any noise until it actually hits
something that is worth digging. But I found that I was really missing
the meter. For me the meter was half the fun. Seeing that meter read
Quarter or dime or whatever and then digging it up and sure enough....
90% of the time it was what it said. That was half the fun. And with the
Vaquero that was now gone. And with the Cortes, I am digging up a lot
less zinc pennies and pulltabs. The Cortes is an amazing machine in my
opinion. One note though: I am so glad I got the Vaquero and used it for
a while because it taught me or should I say forced me to listen and
learn how to detect by just sound and other little tricks. I think
everyone should learn that first before settleing in on a metered machine.
Otherwise you will rely on your meter to much. I only look at the meter
when I get a good audio signal thanks to the Vaquero.

At the present time I'm using a White's IDX.
It is metered and I love it and don't plan on letting it go.
But sometimes it get heavy and I wanted a lighter one. Many of the people I know have the Shadow X5, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money, plus I always wanted to try a non metered machine.
So this was my chance. I looked into several machine, and read a lot of reports and thought for the money I couldn't go wrong.
It will be my first Tesoro, but I have high hopes for it.

Thanks for the reply

Bruce,

I bought a Vaquero a while ago now and think that it is great! I did shell out for the 5.75 coil, it is a must for park hunting. I have just heard about this high tone thing and don't really know what it is.

I have never owned a metered unit, Garrett TA250 is the closest. My wife swings a PIV and it is neat having the TID on board and tones. BUT, and there is alwys but, if you want deep and clear or shallow and fast this unit does it. If I am out for a quick coin haul set the sense to 1 and fly. You will hit every coin your coil passes over that is 4 inches or shallower, I quick blip lets you know to recheck the beep. The Disc button has some real surprises for anyone who wants to bother to learn. See how cleanly square tabs knock out, no fading, just gone. With this knowledge I have never been wrong on a square tab, dig to prove and it is so!

I just want to know what this high tone is, is it a tone ID on the unit or a HIGHER audio RANGE, period?
