Standard ATP headphones compared to the waterproof ones.

I recently purchased a set of waterproof headphones for the ATP. I found the tones to be different from the standard issue phones. The tones are tolerable in volume and pitch but are in my opinion different. Has anyone else found this to be true? I think I'm also hearing alot more signals with the waterproofs. I hunted and iron infested area yesterday and was getting almost constant iron grunts. I managed to find one wheat, one IH,a 41 Jefferson and a new penny and clad quarter, and a vintage military police button.

I haven't bought the Garrett Water Proof headphones because I head they have no volume control. I have used several different headphones using the adaptor and found them all to sound a little different. The closest to the stock headphones are the ear buds I use now.

I got the Pro with both sets. I leave the water ones on all the time! They are crisp, and loud, I put some foam in the cups when I don't wear a hat, but when a guy has to wear a stocking hat with a hood pulled over it, like this winter trying to hunt in the wind and cold, those waterproof headphones are the ticket! The ATPro land ones I use on a different machine, modified the plug, and they seem weak or probably just a middle of the road type of unit, even with the speakers volumn turned all the way up, they are not as crisp or as loud as the waterproof ones.. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the waterproof ones are made of higher grade speakers, and built to be loud especially if a guy was wearing a neoprene diving hood, and shallow diving with them. I like them a lot.
Nice finds there Grunter!:clapping:

You are right Grumpy, the do not have any volumn control, but they sure give off a crisp ping that stops a fellow in his tracks on good targets....I was not sure about the volumn controls either, I have one ear that is nearly deaf, and the other I cant hear out of, so I like to be able to balance the tones with volumn controls..but I am very satisfied with the balance and ping these blue ones give off...very comfortable for me at least.

I like the waterproof ones, and you are right they are very crisp in their tones. They do seem to be more responsive than the stock ones. Lacking a volume control does not seem to be a problem but the tonal quality is definitly going to take some getting use too.
