Got out in the woods today, the temps were in the 30's...perfect for a relic hunt.
I found this brass eagle plate, but I think it's stamped,if anyone have any info on it,feel free to chime in.I found it in a place that has produced some civil war stuff in the past.
Also found this nice suspenders buckle.
The Mass Volunteer Militia button,I found at the same site, but on a different hunt.

Awesome finds ,i like all of them...i have a simular buckle from ny state...is yours like paper thin or more like dime thickness...it looks like the 3 points of contact on the back fell off and the metal is green right where the loop and hook would have attached... looks good.... thanks for sharing...

Oh wow,now that you mention that,I do see the three points of contact.
It is really thin, that's why I questioned it. After I posted this I googled civil war eagle belt plate, and I noticed that the eagle was probably soldered to the buckle.
Now I gotta go find the rest of it.....

Super nice
Thanks for sharing

This is an early militia plate, they did not stand up for campaigning for obvious reasons, great find. Good job not nicking it!!!!

Thanks Brian,much appreciated.....
I wonder if the same guy lost the button and the plate,I found them about twenty feet from each other.

Great finds and a really cool spot you have there! Stay in it and let us see what comes out of there on your next hunt! Outstanding!:clapping:

Wow, nice relics! The gilt on the CW button is sweet and the motif (sword in hand) calls back to an earlier time if you've seen colonial engravings, prints and currency. It stirs patriotic emotions from the war for independence and Massachusettes was very much the spark that ignited that cause. Very cool. The stamped brass plate has that familiar 1851 pattern. I have nice one piece cast brass exams I dug.
WTG - Congrats!
