Stainless and silver

Atlas

New member
Went back to the water hole today. Decreased the sens to level 6 and ground balanced often. Seemed to smooth things out a bit. Dug a few borderline targets (screw tops) to get a better feel for the iron audio. Overall trash count was low and found more coins.

Tiny silver ring rang out loud and clear. Latter I hit the big stainless ring which also gave a big solid tone. These things should be outlawed. I thought it was gold or platinum or silver but it's none of the above it's stainless and retails for 10-20 bucks. Still a good two ring day and getting more familiar with the machine.

I find lots of those types of stainless rings...I think they are the inside race parts from a spinner ring...

HH,

Nice finds Atlas!

I am new at this stuff, however, learning every day. This silver and steel (stainless) making the same sound is confusing. Steel is iron based (ferrous) and magnetic, so why wouldn't it register where is should be... 0-40 range? Still a nice ring....

The one you call stainless is more than likely not a ring but is called a gage. It is what idots wear in the lobe of their ear.

Didn't mean to confuse anyone Doc. The silver ring VDI's at 80 and the stainless ring at 46-47. I just meant they both gave a smooth - solid signal. That is, a for sure dig me sound, not one of those iffy borderline signals.
