staffordshire hoard uk tour

just thought i would go and see the staffordshire hoard in my local town hall,i live in stafford so only 2 mins way.

Well what can i say...

You get 45mins to have a nosey around at your pace, security is present,obviously..Doh.

But seriously, those saxons made some of the finest pieces, the detail and colours are stunning,i honestly havent seen anything produced in this modern day look as ornate, detailed and beautiful as was produced by the saxons.
I was amazed and i dont use the word "beautiful" lightly,im a man ;)

Only small with about 40 pieces but well displayed, also replica stuff like helmets,swords..Hey there even a bullseye pointer, and a whites detector lol.

Very nice examples of ancient craftsmanship, Gaz!
Some years ago there was a jaw-dropping exhibit of over 1000 pieces of worked gold in the Philippines which also made modern-day pieces look bland and hum-drum.

yes very good nice pieces wouldn't mind finding some of those :clapping: i read somewhere 1gram of gold can be flattened out to 1meter square now that's malleable
