!st time out with X-cal

Took Jason out first time with his X-Cal 800 and he pops up a silver 1944 mercury dime on the beach. Also a token and some change. We only hunted an hour, no headlamps with us and my X-cal battery went dead. Will head to same area tomorrow and see if any more silver wants to come into the light.

Ron had one made up for me and it is like night and day over the NiCad. I keep on expecting it to run out of juice but it just keeps going and going. Really stable power too!

Not a bad nut for a first spin. WTG!

Cheers,

I am tied up all weekend and have a DCJS school next week Mon-Tues-Wed-Thu and won't be at the beach at all. If you want to borrow my NIMH pack that's new, until Batteries Plus gets yours done, let me know.

Hi lads,
just reading this topic re NiMh pods ?? i noticed that after a long hunting session my old 1000 became unstable and the threshold tone would constantly change,( i considered this to be wear and tear)? . Is this the same problem you mention ?? ( the battery output level low ) ??
I have just got a brand new yellow head phoned 1000 (still boxed) !! what are the advantages of NiMh pods ? over a brand new nicad pod unit ?? and why then do Minelab not suply the NiMh pods as standard kit with the new Excalibur model ??
regards tony weston. u.k.
