Wife and I spent a week on St Simon's Island and was able to get a two to three hours of digging time in daily. Not a whole lot of old coins, but did manage 3 silver ones, a 53 Washington quarter and 2 Mercury dimes, 42 and 44. Also managed 2 Buffalo nickels, a 1924 and a 37. Along the way I got 1 1900 I H and not shown, also got 12 wheat cents. They have disappeared since I un-packed last night????
Spent most of my hunting time in two downtown city parks. Which, am sure over the years have been pounded. Just before leaving I had taken delivery of a NEL Sharpshooter coil and used it entirely for all my hunting. Seems to get very good depth and wonderful target separation.
Did have the A T down on the beach some and it performed nicely in dry sand all the way down to the water line. The beach was very sanded in, but besides junk targets I did manage several newer coins and the one curio pictured. The Richard Hudnut creams bottle was almost a foot deep up in the dry sand.
Temps there were in the mid to upper 50's two days and the rest were 60's into the low 70's. Back to reality.
