Squeaky pole?

Active member
i just got a used tejon and the upper pole is really squeaky, is there a way to make it stop  thanks, CladKing

Seriously though. Tabdog is right. Teflon tape does the trick. For your detector. Ahem!

Tabdog mentioned using tape which is how corrected my Eldorado. The squeak is probably coming from the upper connection near the control box.

Hi Cladking,

If it not real loose, where the additional thickness of a wrap of teflon tape is needed,
try a drop of vegetable cooking oil. Might help. If it doesn't, will come off easily with warm soapy water.

While lubricating the connection may cause the noise to stop,
it will attract dirt and cause the connection to ware even more.

Teflon has no glue or residue.

HH,

Good point Tabdog.

Seems like everything around here gets dirt on it!

My Silver uMax has a "creaky" shaft, and the detector is not but a little over a year old. Someone told me to wrap a small bit of teflon pipe tape around the joint that creaks, and tighten up good on the plastic lock-nut. Might work?
