I headed back to the house that i had hit last night and pulled 2 more wheat's and 1 silver nickel. The nickel was crusty with iron on it so i hit it with my little wire brush. Its was interesting to find a fire department badge about 5 inches down in some roots and then i realized that the house was just burned that's why its getting torn down. So then i started looking at the dirt really close and could see that this wasn't the first time this home had burned. I guess the badge was from the first time it burned back in the 50's or 60's from what i could see. The char layer was about 5 inches down so that's how i concluded all that.

I pulled a small buckle out from between some roots Thats was fun ok it wasnt but what the hel@ you take the good with the bad.

Nice finds 80! fire department badge is way cool! is it form the new burn or old burn or do you think somebody lost it while living at the place?...Once I found a honkin brass fire hose nozzle in the buried remains of a burnout. I polished it up and now it sits in my showcase. Thanks for sharin.

I think its from the old burn cause it was down about 5 inches in a grassy part of the yard. I didnt know the house was burned it looked fine till i looked around back an seen were the fire had been. But like I said the badge was to deep to be new so thats why i started checking out the dirt as i dug things to see if there had been a fire before. Im going to go back one more time and hunt cause there is a bunch of really old iron near the back and looking threw the woods behind it a saw an old house thats falling down and all grown over by trees and vines. Ill try and get a pic next time if i remember. Theirs got to be something old there.
