now i can get ready to detect where this log cabin use to be and an the old house there time to see how good the master hunter cx plus is.

Glad it's getting warm enough for you frozen ground folks. Post pics if you find some goods.:clapping:

Bruce take it from a fellow cabin and old house hunter. Take a small coil with you. Or get one! I have the CX Plus and I only use the Hot Head Ferret with it. Depth is decent about 4- 5 inches but it excels in the trash. That is it's real shining point. I found an 1896 V nickel last summer at an old house with this setup. The nickel was at 3 inches!!!! It goes to show depth is'nt the only consideration!

Have fun!!

thank for the info. where the cabin use to be isn't bad but the house got a few junk there. i was looking for someone ring he lose there didn't find it but the cx pick up few dollar signal. if it pick up some might be one or two rest could be something that size.

Yeah not all old coins are buried halfway to China as many believe. I've found a lot of old coins above six inches.

...won't be deeper than 5"-6". The configuration of most soils tend to stop the coin at a certain level and no matter how many years go by, they won't ever go deeper. **Excavated and plowed areas could be the exception to the rule. And maybe very light soils; I dont know

i was trying to think which detector to hunt with the time ranger which is a great machine or the master hunter cx plus another great one i newer on the cx so that give me time to know it too. the time ranger got a ten inch coil on it might take both :detecting:
