Spring Lake Camp..........Chapter 4

Lil Brother

New member
Tonight was a so-so night. It started off okay, just a little slow. I had bought a piece of poster board on which I wrote, "I will take your picture and email it along with a short message to the email address of your choice." I stood by the phones for about 20 minutes finding out that most of the people had gotten hold of FEMA today. There was hardly any one there using the phones so I got restless and took off after hanging the sign around my neck. I walked around talking to a lot of people, but only had two takers so far.

A man with a name tag approached me as I was talking to Tim and Ricklyn and told me that he appreciated the ministry I was trying to do, but that this was a private baptist assembly and that all efforts should be coordinated. He went on telling me that there was 3 people on the Board and that he was ONE of them. I replied to him,"So, are you telling me to stop?" He said no and I thought to myself---then what is your point? He directed me to a fellow wearing overhauls and an orange cap. "Thats Mr. Moore and he is the one to ask. He is in charge of Spring Lake."

I wandered over to Mr Moore and introduced myself. Within seconds, he said, "Sure, go ahead." I thanked him and walked back over to the first man. "I got the Okay", then I walked on. Come to find out, this first man was the mayor of Benton,(but we were in Lonsdale, 12 miles away), and I think that he must have had a rough week or something. Please pray for us both--him for the way he acted and me for some of the thoughts that went through my head. It may have been a PRIVATE Church camp, but I can assure you; 95% of the people helping were all volunteers!

My dear sister bought Ricklyn a bunch of stuff and bought Ray a Sony WAlkman. I forgot the walkman after I put batteries in it, but will bring it to him tomorrow. Tim told me that Ricklyn still had a smile on her face with all the stuff Linda got her. LInda got extras like curling irons, blow dryers and all kinds of make up and just plain ole "girl Stuff."

After a while, I was talking to some more people on the deck when I looked down by the lake to see Tim having a hard time getting his fishing rod reeled in. I ran down to the waters edge to see what looked like a 20 lb grasscarp fighting for his life on Tim's rod. I turned my camera on, but before I could take a picture, the fish snapped Tim's line,(It was probably8 lb test line plus Tim tried to "hoss" him in which caused the line to break), regardless, Tim was excited. I'm excited because Jesus is making me a fisher of men!

Tomorrow night I won,t be helping there; only taking Ray his walkman, but I plan to return for a while Saturday and Sunday after church.

God Bless,

Lil Brother:)
