I haven't been able to post much lately, but I have been able to sneak out for a bit. Last week, on Tuesday, I managed to find a nice older toy car in my backyard. It hit as a pulltab, but I haven't found any pulltabs down 5" in my yard. So, naturally, my interest was piqued. I'm glad I recovered it. This car, and a spoon I found a month ago, are the only indications that there were any children living here way-back-when, even though I know the house had 5 kids in it.
Here's the car:

Well, I was able to talk my other half into letting me out for a little bit. I headed off to a park where I was hunting last year. A few days ago, I was in the same area and realized I hadn't covered it as fully as I thought, as I pulled up three Wheat's and a '49 Canadian small cent. Today, I went right back at it, trying to figure out where the hotspots are, if any, and where the trashy areas are that I'll have to really clean out.
I got a nice, soft, High Tone signal that indicated 6" on the depth meter. I opened a flap, checked the hole, target's in the hole. I started removing all the loose dirt and checking that. Nothing. I scanned the hole with my Vibraprobe, and got a hit. I rubbed just a little bit of dirt away, and exposed a Wheat.
A little later, I again received a nice, soft, High Tone hit that indicated 6", but this one's a solid Nickel signal. No bouncing either! That's rare around here, normally a target that deep bounces to Iron a bit. Maybe all the moisture from the snowmelt? Anyway, as I was removing dirt from the hole, one of the handfulls of dirt yelped when I passed it over the coil. This is what I found:

YEE-HAA! My first Buff of the season!
I managed to get one other Wheat. I also found out that my cell phone will make my CZ false, as I got a set of funny signals, then realized my cell was ringing. Go figure...
