Spring B. in Fl.

Flintstone

Well-known member
When is the best spring brake time in Fl. ? I would like to try and hunt one time when it is the best. Thanks flintstone

No one can project that far out. Its weather dependent, which beach you intend on hunting, when they get out for break (staggered so the places can handle the people) ....... and if you intend on water hunting of wet/dry sand hunting. Its really a row of the dice....... just like any vacation. Since its like 3 weeks beginning Mar 1st, id wait until at least the 2nd week. IF you can get a projection on weather/swell charts that always helps. If we catch a break and its warm........ then its good. To be honest....... during that time even the weekends are packed the best.

Booking early can save you money............ but can cost you if the weather stinks. Where you thinking? Students dont loose a lot of gold.......... but parents and snow birds if the weather is WARM can and do. Combine that with the locals on a weekend and you can drive around for 30 min. looking for a place to part.

Get up and go early in the morning. No one will be on the beach because they are all hungover.

I was thinking about Panama City, that is a wild place on tv. I like to go out when they are all on the beach, I am 65 years and they don't mind me much. I go up to where they are laying and ask if they lost anythain.

Not a good tactic........ people start complaining about you being in their space or say you are being a little pervie and you may be asked to leave. If its a cold year they tend to move more South like Meyers, Siesta, Lauderdale.

Thanks Dew, That was a joke, but I would never brother anyone. I have been on the beach and talk and joke with the kids. I had two girls last year at Myrtle Beach, ask if it would pick up the ring in there belly button and I showed them it would, and got one a little lower on one. We had a good time, they like to joke to. I just wanted to get to Fl. this year if I can. Thanks for the tips. flintstone

I enjoy talking to people as well. Ive had people ask me to test the detector on their surgical pins ect lol. Enjoy the vacation and hopefully someone will leave you a goodie or two.

PCB passed a no drinking on the beach law for March. Reservations are down 50% Hotels not happy about this. Someone is going to lose a gang of $ on the high bed tax.

Stone, no one, but no one sheds more everything than the young & dum. The Spring breakers got to be responsible for more fresh drops than any other age group. Even the ones who aren't misbehaving haven't learned how to hold onto the stuff they bring with them. The Old and wise just don't drop as much. They do drop, but sunrise on a spring break beach can be like a turkey shoot.

Some times it is just nice to see the Sun come up and here the waves splash. It is nice to find a nice keeper every now and then but to just see the quite in the morning.

Dance, Have you been seeing the new MXSport detector from Whites? I have the MXT for land and it dose very well on rings for me. I like my BHID, detector, but it is heave for me. I don't go far out in the water any more. I am 65 years young and the waves just keep me off balance to much, I go about up to my knees now. If the MX Sport would do as good on the beach as on land I think I might try one. What do you use? If you don't mine my asking. I just love to be out on the beach, and to find even a silver ring is a thrill. flintstone

I'm sure spring breakers do loose jewelry, but one thing I know for sure is that they loose a ton of Corona Light screw caps. I'm down here on the Gulf with Dancer.
Got to see him out in some pretty heavy surf the other day. Looked like he was trying out for "Dancing With The Stars".

Just FYI, I think the MXSport will probably not be great in the salt. It is a single frequency machine and most people seem to think it will be subpar in saltwater for that reason.

Stone, there's a lot of anticipation on the new Whites. I would wait to hear how it's going to handle the salt. Your BHID should be able to belt or chest mount. I think. That's what I do with my Infinium L/S , takes the load off your arm.
Got a buddy George down here, does real good with his BHID. Runs a Dual Field too.
Got another guy runs a Mxt Pro on the dry, good machine. Things are going to start picking up soon I hope. Badly need some beach traffic.
Good luck. Dancer
