Spoon Ring

This morning, my oldest daughter and I went to the beach for some bonding time and treasure hunting. This has been great for us to spend time together. We originally bought a little pioneer 202 off Craigslist and quickly decided we wanted a new detector. We searched around and some of you may recall me being on the fence between the AT Pro and the Minelabe SE (used). I ended up going with the Minelab and have had it out a few times.

Well today we were at the beach and we Dig Everything. We spent a lot of time digging beer cans and bottle caps. We noticed a lot of cuts in the sand from the tide and we experimented with setting the detector on Deep Recovery. Just as soon as we put it on Deep Recovery we got a signal and at eight inches this is what we found.

I was doing the sweeping and my daughter was doing the digging. She pulled this out on her first load. She said it was a ring and I thought she was pulling my leg, She does that.

We also found the penny. lol

The markings on the inside say " Pat May 15 88.4" and it appears that the 4 is larger

Maybe someone here knows what it may be made of. I guess we could take to a jeweler to have them tell us. It kind of looks like silver but another person said it may be platinum?

Any way, thanks for looking.

you sweep she digs thats a nice idea congrates on the finds

Nice ring.:clapping: I have found a couple of those spoon rings also. Nice to hear that you are sharing this great hobby with your daughter. It does get in your blood and don't be surprised if she asks good old dad for a new Explorer one of these days.:clapping: GL & HH.

Agree with Great Republic, it will be sterling silver as that was what was used to make the original utensil. Haven't ever heard of a set of platinum ware. I've seen gold plated sterling before.

Nice find - thanks for sharing.
