SPOKE TO JUAN FROM FIRST TEXAS

Well-known member
just got off the phone with juan from first texas..i was gonna send my f75 11-14-14 in for the pinpoint bug and other issues..juan informed me when they get the unit all that is changed is a resistor to fix the ma ma pinpoint..nothing else is done and performance is exactly the same..he also said that he never mentioned anything about a recall and that people on the forum are making his job very hard..so i don't know what to think?he said the software does not get touched..it's exactly the same..

I am getting pretty much the same information.

Thanks undrpar,

Ron in WV

No problem ron...im gonna leave mine as is for now because ive only used it a few times due to weather.besides the pinpoint which doesn't effect me as i use 3 tones anyway i have not noticed any other problems.i was just going with what ive been reading.in disc mode with stock coil ive found 7-8 inch coins no problem and with the 15 inch i dug a 12inch wheat.so unless i notice any issues ill leave it as is ..

Yes the resistor fixes the ma ma pinpoint..other than that they changed nothing.wish i had both to compare side by side..

Ha ha....
I spoke to Juan today too.
I verified that All updated F75 ' s have the same software version 9.0 and 9.1.
11-14-14 is the "Born on Date"
9 out 10 units returned and checked for depth issue were fine. One had a poor solder joint affecting depth
The rumors are causing people to return units without getting return authorization numbers

I was given option for new replacement, so I got a 1214. Its better for sure. But I bought new, not upgrade. I was given option to repair the 1114 unit but chose all new.

I agree togg.mistakes happen.just explain the situation ,get it fixed and move on..leaving people with unanswered questions just escalates the situation .and causes customers to go elsewhere.

They called me last week and said my had to go to the engineer for the am depth problem, don't know if mine had the pinpoint issue. I may never see it again.

They told me mine was being kept by the tech for some reason.

All this could have been avoided with two words & poor Juans job would have been SO much easier!------It's called "quality control"!-------These (early) F-75's should have never went out the FT door.

I think the people at Fisher need to get their story straight. They are wandering around like a termite in a wooden YoYo. We've got Juan saying there is no problems and blaming the forums for making things rough on him. And you've got somebody at Fisher just making the announcement on their Facebook page that there were problems with subpar machines in the early versions. Earliest version - 11-14 serial batch because that's when they started offering the upgrades. I don't think they know whether they are coming or going.

I spoke with Felix after I had missed their initial call, and was wanting to know what they were gonna tell me. He was going to find out who called and was supposed to call or email me back. 2 days ago and counting. Still no call or email.

Dave J. should crust the rumors . It only takes 1 post. GS

since Dave J. is mentioned it would be appreciated if he could explain the differences between FW versions 9.0 and 9.1. I for one am thoroughly confused by these two versions....

According to the manual, 9.0 is the DST version(Digital shielding technology) and the 9.1 doesn't have DST

the way they worded it on their facebook page sounds like older models that were sent in for upgrades had problems with the new software..i purchased mine new 11-14-14 ..so ?

It think that was just PR. Upgrades or brand new units in first batch early 11/14 had issues. Upgrades were simply new unit put on the shaft. All serials changed with update since it's embedded. The first batch of boards likely had a bad resistor or something that gave the momma pinpoint and performance issues in all metal. Software compatible or just bad part it was new boards defective not old units incompatible. Second batch of 11/14 seemed ok why some 11/14 serials are ok. It seems they do about 2 runs a month on machine builds. I chose for a complete replacement to my old 11/14 serial vs the extra time to repair my defective first run, brand new, 11/14 unit. My 12/14 serial works great!

thanks for that, clearly sounds more plausible, i.e. pc boards swapped in had issues....these particlular 'final run' boards most likely were not field tested, just assumed to be 'good'. we all know how that can turn out. I do believe them when they say the FW versions are the same with no changes made. I would really like to see a real 'engineering notice' with regard to the differences between 9.0 and 9.1 (Dave J. listening?).....

They probably don't have great way to explain changes without revealing trade secrets. I'm sure several different things are in play from signature filters, threshold, gain, target response.

I think by "older" they mean much older, like 2009 old. Would be nice if they provided more details, but nice to see they are sharing some info.

i just did an airtest in 9.0 disc/bp/80 sens/ i get 13" on a nickle...in am/bp/80 sens i get 17-18 inches..this is with my 11-14-14 purchased new..is this on par with what people are getting with the newer serial numbers?
