The short and sweet of it is that there is nothing like a SovereignGT on a beach... next machine I am getting will be an Excalibur. I am convinced that it would be the perfect compliment for the GT. GT for dry sand and wet sand... Excal for surf and water. I have three machines with me the GT, a V3, and an F75 LTD. I haven't tried the F75 yet but have used a T2 in years past on dry sand and I know it worked very well. I'll be trying it in the dry sand and in the surf with the GB down on 1 or 2 to see how it handles the salt water and wet sand.
I tried the V3 a bit but even in the salt program I wasn't impressed with the way it acted going in and out of the water. It did fine on wet sand and the C&J program did very well in the dry sand but it is too darn heavy for my elder upper back. I think it is more suited to a younger man and certainly to folks who have no upper back problems... unless you work lawns and parks where you can slide the coil along. The SovGt chestmounted with the 10" Tornado is just fine though, probably easier for me to use than even the lightweight F75, but it is health related and particularly to MY back... you may find other machines to work better for you... but the V3 hurts me and the GT does not.
Maybe i'll find something worth taking a picture of. So far i've found two dimes and a nickel and a bunch of square tabs and Bud Light bottlecaps... well, at least I have something to notch out... but i'll probably just listen to them and keep digging them... there may be a nice gold ring that is hiding disguised as a squaretab!
BTW.... there is NO OIL here on the beach or in the water. There are some BP folks stationed here just in case. They are well housed, in condos @ 1200.00 a week. I'm glad they are here though. One of the wives was talking to my daughter about how she hated BP, couldn't stand to hear their name. She is from Mobile. I was proud of my daughter... she said that as for her (my daughter) and us we were buying BP gasoliine whenever we could because as she told the wife...."how is BP going to pay for this if they aren't making money". Plus the stations are owned by local people. Anyway, no oil... just darn HOT... record heat today.
HH folks,
Julien
