Speed of swing

If you are detecting most or all of your signals on the ends of your swing there is a good possibility that you maybe swinging your coil too fast and not allowing the detector to react to the target.

Just something to take note of while you are detecting. This helped me discover that I was swinging too fast and after slowing down the swing I started finding more (also deeper targets) and was getting more hits directly in front of me in the middle of my swing. This works for all detectors.

Hope this helps you as it did for me. HH

I'm with you there. I've said it myself that too often, folks are just booking down the beach, "lofting" their coils at the end of each swing, not overlapping, and oftentimes with the coil 4 or 5 inches off of the ground. Which of course results in 4 or 5 inches LESS DEPTH!!!

I think slowing down is VERY important and I think it's equally important to keep the coil FLAT on the ground and not loft it at the end of the swing. It takes a little more concentration on your technique but it's worth it. It takes me a long time to cover a section of beach...usually a lot longer than other detectorists I see out there, who are often long gone when I look up. Slowing down gets the stuff the others miss.
