Spectrum XLT won't turn on help?

Trying to figure out what is wrong with a Spectrum XLT.When I press the on/off button the screen flashes and then shuts off again. This is with a full battery. Nothing other than the light comes on the screen. Any ideas?

Is it just the display or is the entire unit shutting off completely? If you still have audio then you will need to have the display repaired, if not then obviously there is more going on. You should give White's a call and send it in for repair.

No it's powering right back off. Here is a wierd thing that just happened. I pressed the toggle switch forward and pressed the on button and it turned on and is working again. I have turned it on and off several times and it seems fine. Is that some sort of reset that I just did?

Look inside the battery compartment. You will see two prongs..Gently pull those out and your battery connection will be better. Dropping the battery in over times depresses the connectors.. Also while machine is on..Open battery compartment and drop the battery out while on. Wait a few minutes and put back and turn on..Be sure you pull out the connector ...just a little. Sounds like you lost the power connection.

xlt-user is right. It's a power-problem. It you massage the contacts, use cleaners on the battery-contact point, I bet it will clear up.

My spectrum xlt is doing this too. I'll bump the detector while using it (usually by bumping the coil against something or by setting the detector on the ground) and it will just shut off. Drives me nuts!

In the past I have had to pull the battery contacts (inside the battery bay) forward, but I'm afraid I will end up snapping one off. I may hae to take the whole thing apart, bend the contacts forward very carefully & maybe stick a piece of foam behind them.

Place a piece of foam rubber on the inside of Battery Compartment door. That works well too.

I glued mine to door..as I close it it forces battery to make contact. Battery doesn't move around much either..The true cause is dropping the battery in the compartment.Over time it depresses the contact terminals.
