Spectrum XLT or newer XLT (much difference?)

Dirt Poor

New member
I've used White's machines for decades, but got away from them recently(for lighter machines) due to health problems. As some may know, I bought a used Spectrum XLT(rainbow motif) recently for a low, low price. I got my support harness today, so I'm looking forward to trying it out soon. Anyway, are the older models more preferable to some of you? I used to own an Eagle Spectrum, and used it for 10 or more years. It was probably my all-time favorite, but it got heavy when my arthritis kicked-in.

Sorry to hear the Eagle Spectrum got to be too much for you. I still use mine occasionally, along with my new V3.

first-issue XLT with version 1.0 software. Other than that, the version 1.1 software was used in the early "rainbow" series as well as the current E-series. models. I missed the XLT and after tinkering around some more I decided to add one back into my working battery. Got it a week ago Friday in pristine (new) condition for $275. :) :hot:

Being all 'stoved-up' is the pits, but since I am not a big-coil fan I take care of the comfort issue by adding a 6

Man, at that price I would add one to my arsenal as well. I'm jealous

The XLT is STILL a top dog. Most stable detector I've ever owned. At $275 you did incredibly well! Enjoy!!

Oh, I got my XLT with a few extras for 150.00. A man bought it 3 years ago from another man. Man # 1 bought it new, and used it a fair amount, but it looks great. Man #2 NEVER used it, and it stayed zipped-up in the case for 3 years. He told me he paid 400.00 for it used, and I asked him what he expected to get for it. He said "200.00-half what I paid". So I offered him 150 and he took it.

Yeah, Im paying $425 to get one with the 9.5" coil and the small snooper. They hold their value pretty well in the hobby.

Well, I found someone that had an X-terra 70 with 2 coils and the works, so I put the XLT on "fee-bay" with a "buy it now" of 350.00. Somebody hit the buy-it-now 2 nights ago(right after listing it), and they have ZERO transactions. I have not been able to get ANY type of response from them. So, y'all know the story......It's gonna take alot to get fee-bay to refund the sales commision for a sale that didn't take place, and the idiot probably didn't want the machine, so he's not gonna respond. I had the machine listed on here(first), but it dissapeared.

Shouldn't have used the Buy It Now option. If you wanted to run a fixed price, classified ad there are plenty of places that will do that for free. Not just findmall, by the way.
If you want stuff to move on ebay, reliably, you gotta run an auction and get people excited.

I had a guy wait 8 days before paying from an ebay sale. When he paid he said he had just left on vacation. So don't give up too soon. Now I say in the ad "Payment due within 48 hours of auction close - do not think about bidding if you can pay fast"
