spectrum v3 settings

I have a question on setting up the v3 for red soil.I am going on a dig in Virginia and I have been told that the v3 needs to be set up a certain way to detect in this type of soil.I am from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the soil here is nice dark clay soil.I guess my question is can anyone who has detected in this type soil help me with getting the correct settings to get the best results in this soil

I would say wen you get their put a US Nickle in the ground at different depths, Get a good G/B thats the most important setting??
Try Different Ground filters??? If the grounds Hot back off on the Disc Sens and all metal sens?? never Hunted their just a thought,
