Spectra "V" Coils On A MXT

Ok, they say that the new "V" marked coils are made for the Spectra/Vision. That is because the other coils, 6x10, 950 etc would not work with the high gain of the Vision. So, does that mean that the "V' marked coils would allow the MXT's to be cranked up to full gain? Just curious if anyone has tried one on the MXT yet.............MO

A similar question was asked for the DFX and I believe the answer from Carl@White's is that no, it will not help the DFX. I would have to assume the MXT would fall into the same category. I hope to be doing some loop testing later this week and I will test a 950 V on an MXT to see. My understanding is the V nulling is to make the loops compatible with the Boost feature on the V where the loop voltage is increased from 10 volts to 30 which caused an overload condition on some non-V loops. The gain on the MXT is just amplifying an already received signal, not changing the loop voltage. (Power output)

I've been running the D2 on my MXT all year and I can turn the gain up but I've heard that doing that only makes it louder for hearing the faint signals, I usually run mine at +1 but if there is a lot of EM I'll back it down sometimes below the preset. The D2 is an awesome coil by the way!

Hi Larry,

I was wanting to experiment with a Vision V 6"X10" coil on my MXT, Will do this later in the year when I get back up to Gold country.

I strongly believe the V 6"X10" coil will help with stability in hot ground, In some areas of California especially up in gold country an MXT will experience some minor falsing. Nothing serious but I feel the V coil will eliminate this without sacrificing sensitivity with smaller targets.

Anyway, I'll surely be trying this out in the fall.

Give it a try Paul, but believe it was Carl at Whites that posted that the V coisl won't make any difference on the MXT or DFX. I've got the V rated 9.5 and D2 and will interchange them between My MXT and V but am not looking for any performance gain. Rob

I sure will Rob,

I agree, I don't think a performance gain will result from using a V-coil on the MXT but what may result is better stability in extremely bad ground.

That alone will be beneficial for those who detect under these harsh environment's, Wouldn't that be something if the V coil dos help :)
