Spectra and rain?

Is there a cover or is one needed? I notice that the speaker holes are in top of the box. What if I am out in the woods or up a hill and it starts to rain?

Will it be a problem?

Julien

Something I did before buying a box cover was to "duct tape" a piece over the speaker holes. Didn't ever use it anyway. If it is also a "cooling vent", I never had a problem while I owned the DFX for a few years, so, I figured it was a cheap fix. Worked for me, anyway. White's uses same "box" for several models so a cover for one works with the others.
Hope this helps Julien.

The speaker is mylar and is sealed so rain getting in the holes won't hurt anything. Nevertheless, I usually place a nice neat square of clear packing tape over the speaker.

Thanks Carl, can I assume everything else is at least water resistant? Do I need to worry if I am at a hunt and it's rainy?

Julien

The pod has a gasket and is rain proof, and the main box has a gasket. The weak point is the headphone jack and the battery door. You could slip a sandwich bag over them if it's raining a lot. I've had mine out in the rain with no ill effect, although I did have a scare when it suddenly went erratic and shut off. Turned out I had run the batteries flat dead.

Very welcome info, Carl. Always was scared to death when a few drops started falling. The info is much appreciated.
