Do you think the finder used a Long Range detector like a Thomas Electroscope or some other dowsing rods like Anderson or Fitzgerald, etc. to find this gold coin hoard in a large field?
Naw, all long distance finders are all fly by night hokey and do not work. The only thing that works is directly down and straight underneath a unit like a metal detector and dowsing rods.

An amateur archaeologist with a metal detector has found the largest horde of ancient gold coins unearthed in Britain for more than 150 years.
The 824 gold coins were found in a broken pottery jar buried in a field in the English county of Suffolk.
They date from around 40 BC. - BBC"
Yes just a plain old metal detector but it does not say which brand. Would probably cause overload on a detector. Talk about a nice recent coin hit!! Read full article below with photos:
