I currently use an MXT and while its a great machine, don't get me wrong. I'm having problems with the whole weight thing. So, I have decided to compartmentalize my hunting. I now have an X-terra 70 that is proving to be perfect for coin, jewelry, and seeking out possible relic areas. What I would like to do is get a machine that will take a larger coil (between 12 and 18 inches, Needs DD and Concentric capability), that is sound only, control box can be hip or chest mounted (longer coil cord as a consequence) to help with the weight, and makes it possible to tell iron from nonferrous. This would be a dedicated relic hunting machine. Has anyone ever converted a Whites machine for this purpose? Is there some other brand that has this kind of setup that would get real good depth with a larger coil?
