Just saying thanks to a bunch of you out there, been reading all of posts for a few years now and not much for posting finds and stuff. I hope Critterhunter finds some relief soon with all your troubles and RickND I hope your health is getting better just the same. The knowledge you guys have is outstanding and love reading your post and bunch of others people also. All of you have helped me out learning how to use the Sov GT, Critterhunter helped me build a custom gt witch is listed on the Sov Mods page. RickND you helped me learn the deep ones quickly. There's know body around hear that i know of that has a Sov GT within 75 miles of this area, with that being said I`m posting some of my finds over the last couple of summers. I still need to clean up some finds this winter for later posting, The Sov GT is truly a awesome machine and just gets better all the time, learn something new every week. All finds are dirt finds with stock 10 inch coil in parks and some private property with permission . Would like to know how to clean Indians so i would post for later.

Some picks of recent finds.

greate finds , boy you got some nice silver

Thanks, Silver very hard to find up here in North Dakota

Those are some nice finds and glad I was able to help you learn the Sovereign a bit more, but as you will be seeing you will be learning more each time out with it.
I see by that one ring you found likes like it was made from merc dime, if it is it is called a punch coin where they took a coin and was able to punch the face of the coin out to make it 3D and with some great detail. These were then used to make jewelry out of them. I have 2 Lincoln wheat pennies and 2 V Nickles that were done this way that are pins I have found. PAT. date I believe is 1907 and think they made them into the 20s. Yours is the first merc I seen and looks like it was a ring, they made some barber quarters and half's too that were made into necklaces.
Good luck and hope next season you will be posting even more great finds as you have the detector that can do it.

Rick

Wow, that is a nice haul of finds for mainly city / county park hunting. Man, I need to find a couple parks with some GOLD lol The GT sure sniffs them out. Thanks for posting / sharing. - Jim

The merc ring has 1920 for a date and hope to see you again at the MINNKOTA ARTIFACT RECOVERY GROUP treasure hunt next spring. Shannon

Hi earthlypotluck, Spent many hours finding these goodies when you go slow the Sov GT does well. Thanks

Thanks for posting! Just got my Sovereign GT yesterday...so I am a complete Newbie when it comes to this technology. I have done some relic hunting in the past with a Nautilus, now ready for some gold! These pics have me chomping at the bit!

Don't give up on the Sovereign if you are serious about a great detector. Many people are overwhelmed with the Sovereign as the tones and the pitch hold of the last target and the nulling of the tones, get to know it and how these make the Sovereign so well liked by those that did take the time get to know their Sovereigns. It is not really a hard detector to use and quite simple when you spend the time to know what this detector is telling you.

I had a triple bypass Oct 6 2days after my 64Th birthday (what a birthday present) and was out of the hospital Oct 10Th and just sitting at home recuperating and seeing some finds others is finding.
I am hoping by spring i will be kicking butt with my GT as I bet i wasn't able to use it more than 5 hours worth, but still found silver and some Wheaties plus only 1 IH all from a area that has been pounded to death.
Never even got the E-Trac out this past year, but sure plan on it next spring.
There is silver around yet in ND, but getting hard to find as one of the guys in the club must have around 280 or more this year while another guy I got into detecting in 1998 told me he has 190 something this year so far. Some of this is from MN too and I will say they do drive a lot and do some research to come up with this too.
I know they been up in the northern part of ND and a bit west looking for old race track, churches no longer there plus some old country school long gone they find with their research. One area in Grafton where there was street construction at I was with a couple years ago and we did well after others had hit it hard. I know the little I hunted it I got many IH pennies a Canadian fish scale and a few barber dimes and a diamond ring one of the days I was there. Another place I would like to go back too up North is Minto as finds are far a few in the old park, but what you find is old it seems.

Rick,my dad had the similar surgery about twenty years ago.He said he felt he had more energy after the operation.Take care and give yourself time to recover. Ron

Shannon, nice finds. The Sovereign is my favorite detector. The ones I use the most XS-2 with remote switch and my 1235X.HH Ron

Hi Rick, Don`t worry about me giving up on this detector after about one week I knew this was a very special detector, love the tones I don`t think I could ever go back to a beep and dig only detector. I`m pretty selective in what I dig I know probley 90 percent of the time if it`s junk or something good to dig. Silver is pretty easy to tell from clad, Dimes and penny`s are easy to tell apart if there not to deep, penny`s from 1982 and up the are aesy, below 1982 the 90 percent copper penny`s are pretty easy too. IH penny`s are easy with the meter, love the 176 or 160 on the meter for IH . The S1 probe is a great addition to the GT also, been to the park once in Minto also but did not find much, pretty big park. You guys found most of it already Ha Ha. Send me a email if you guys come up my way next summer , love to spend a day out diggin with the pros. Shannon
