Not a metal detecting find, but a cool find none the less. My brother in law has talked for a while about hunting a pasture up on the river and I finally got invited along today. Found a few pieces of flint also. There was also once a home in this pasture with a nice dirt floor cellar, but I didn't have my detector so that will have to wait for another day. Dug several nice bottles too.

Although what most people believe are arrowheads are actually spear points or sometimes called dart points. Darts were small spears thrown with an Atl-Atl. They were used before the bow and arrow and even after the bow was invented. Appears too broad and blunt to be a spear point. Still a nice find and I have many similar displayed in my collection. Good Luck finding more.

Thanks Chuck. A couple years ago, my brother in law found the hammer off a gun in the same area. A good heavy rain would make for better hunting.

The material type appears to be a fine grained sugar quartz which is kind of unusual for Ks. I only have a couple of pieces of that type of material and some may be from elsewhere. Where about in KS do you live? I am 15 min SW of Wichita but spend a considerable amount of time east of Wichita and have relatives in SE Ks.Was going to private e-mail but not sure how to do it on this forum.
