speaking to cub scouts...

The town I grew up in was having a big meeting of all the cub scout packs.....they heard about my lectures at the local schools, and historical societies, & asked if I would do a treasure hunting presentation for theie big meeting. Of course I volunteered my time.....
I brought along several display cases of finds, showed a video, passed around a cannonball, demonstrated a detector. It was a good turn out, & always a good time speaking to kids. As I always tell them that I started out when I was about their age.
Here is a crowd gathering around some of my display cases. I let folks come up for a closer look after I take questions.......
Sometimes I get paid to speak, but with kids I usually do it free, or ask for the funny handwritten letters they always write :)
HH,

Now I think that is such a wonderful way to share a hobby. Even though I'm not a scout, I would like to have been there and see it all myself. Thanks !

my son is a scout(bear) i hope to be just like you too!!

I have 3 ring binders full of letters like that.......I started with doing 1 school & then I began to get asked to speak at adult meetings, like historical societies, detecting clubs.....
Been all over New England doing it. I have spoken to entire schools rather than just 1 class....gets kinda hecktic when 300 kids come up to the table to try to touch things & ask questions though :)
But it's all worth it.
Bill
