I was wondering what the best probe (if there is one)to use with the XS. I had a hand-held vibra probe 460, but it broke. I need a new one, so i was hoping for some advice. By the way, I heard that attaching the X-1 probe to an XS, voids the warranty of the XS.
 
Never heard of the X-1 voiding the warranty, I doubt it, but it sure is one heck of a probe. Can't imagine hunting without it. I use it on every target. You won't be sorry if you get one.

Attaching the X-1 Probe to the upper shaft of the Explorer only voids the warranty on the upper shaft - not the whole detector. Everything else except the upper shaft is still fully covered by the Minelab warranty.

If you have an explorer get the X1.. Sunray probes are the best.. upper rods only 30 bucks if you need to buy one

There is only 1 probe I would consider and that is the Sunray probe as it will do everything the coil will but not get as deep. This makes it nice as it is a disc probe that can get into the areas you cant with the loop and find the targets that you may have missed because you couldnt find them.
I would get the extra upper shaft and have the probe mounted and you wont have to be without the Explorer ,and if you ever have to send it in you can keep your probe while sending in your original upper shaft.

I have some really cool gadgets from pocket pc's with cf lan cards to high end notebook pc's to Minelab Explorers and nothing is quite as cool as my X1 probe, awesome!
 
Anyone that doesn't have the X-1 probe doesn't have a complete XS!!!! and thats the cold hard facts!!! As far as your warrenty is concerned I have never heard of a case where Minelab needed anything but the head returned.
