Mike's post below reminded me of an experience I once had. A friend & I stopped at these vacant apartments to detect. They were one step from being torn down - all 1 story only in size. Well the place was kinda erie even before we found what we saw, water was spraying out of a broken line, all was quiet and scummy looking.
As we worked our way around one building I looked inside and saw something strange. It then came together in my mind as an altar someone had built in the house. A mannequin type figure was in the central position, seated , with mirrors stuck on the head, blood colors running down all over, wooden supports, bowels of incense, etc. It was an altar to Satan I'm sure.
I took a rake handle and said "in the name of Jesus I destroy you" - and knocked it down.
