Speaker replacement on an Eagle Spectrum

SilverFinger

New member
Just got the Spectrum. Had about 30mins to run it through some paces because of the MISERABLE ASS WINTER we still have in Milyucky, Wisconsin. I thought I had frostbite from handling the mud (which is just now thawing, so it's probably RIGHT at freezing temp)

Found a wheat and a square head bolt in my yard, which I thought I hunted out (3 silver dimes, 1 silver quarter, various wheats) with my last detector.

So far, so good. The Spectrum seems a little 'chirpy', but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Ran in with the Jewelry/Beach program, and tweaked the Threshold, AC Sens and Preamp gain like people suggested.

It is a VERY clean machine. I can tell it saw little use. I'm still concerned about its' age, especially those old LCD screens but seems good so far. Not quite as easy to read as the new ones, that's for sure.

I have SOME electronics repair. The only thing not working is the built-in speaker. I know what you're thinking, who needs that? Well, I hunt with headphones of course but the speaker is nice to have if you're air testing stuff, recording a video, etc. AND I just want it 100%

Anyone have experience troubleshooting/replacing the speaker on these? Scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, how hard is it to replace the speaker for someone with some electronics repair background?

Is the case pretty straightforward to open?

I sure don't want to muck up my new/old toy.

Make sure the headphone connect is working properly sometimes the switch inside can get stuck. Other than that work on a grounded surface,it's just a speaker so shouldnt be pretty straight forward.
Do your disconnect and reconnect at the speaker.
Have Fun
