Speaker issue with v3i

texican

Love my V3i, however I noticed that the external speaker quit and will only work if the headphones are inserted approx. 1/4 the way into the jack. If the headphones are completely removed, no sound. The headphones work perfectly when plugged completely into the jack. Any ideas of what might be wrong? Thanks

Did you go to Audio menu and make sure the speaker is selected to be ON?

I think this is one of the most confusing controls to find on the V3i menu. I had so much trouble changing my speaker to be activated with the headset off. I could not find the setting for the longest time!

Sounds like he's using wired phones though. This is a function of the hardware - if the phone jack is making contact one way, phones are active (wired, not wireless), the other, the speaker is active. Checking the wireless enable selection is a good start though. I can think of one scenario where that might possibly give this symptom, but I'm very skeptical on that. Sounds more like a phone jack issue to me. Give customer service a call.

If you are only using wired headphones, go to an audio menu (zoom an audio live control, or the audio menu in the expert menu or 6 block menu). Select "Wireless Headphone" press enter. Make sure that "Enable" is not checked. If that is not checked, then it's most likely the phone jack.

I am using the wireless headphones, but the other day I could not scroll down far enough to see the Enable option. It is there though!

That's odd. Enable is at the top of the wireless screen. When wireless is disabled, the Enable box (empty) is the only thing there. But, if enabled, the Enable box (checked) is at the top of the screen with all the other wireless options underneath and you should have been able to arrow up enough to get there.
