Spanish trail was no match!

Found an early California Spanish trail hidden away in the mountains.. I had my 6" coil with me so I only hunted what I could... Got a tiny squeak at 5" (12/38 in combined) and out popped this little guy. This thing is literally half the size of a dime and really thin. Not sure what it is? I believe the date says 1724? Can't wait to hit it tomorrow with my 11" coil.

Congrats! You hit Spanish silver along that Spanish trail. There should be a letter or letters on the left side of the castle. This will have a letter or letters that indicate where it came from...Lima Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico etc. On the right side of the castle, you should see a fractional number, representing the denomination. Since you said it was half the size of a dime, it would likely be a 1/4 Real, similar to these...

Great find!

Very cool!

That is closer to a unique piece than the more common currency. One reason why I would love to have it.

Congrats great find!
Place a penny next to those unusual items for size reference.
