Soveriegn GT Small Coil Question

GENE EDWARDS

New member
Has anyone used the sunray 5.5" DD coil on the Soveriegn GT yet? If so how do you like it, or would I be better off with the 8"? I work a beach with a lot of melted pop can pieces and nails, and I need to get in between some of the trash to get the goodies. Thanks much, Gene

I can think of some great reasons to use that small coil with the Sovereign. Beach hunting isn't one of them.

You're better off using a 10" coil on a beach or maybe an 8". Why? Because it's so easy to dig with a scoop and you cover more ground.

If you're working a land site with hard ground and lots of trash then it would be an advantage to use the small coil. On a sand beach you should use a big coil.

That's what I think.

If you already have the small tornado coil for the GT, it measures 7 1/4" so its really close to the Sunrays 5 1/2" coil.........so not much advantage size wise.
