New member
I HAVE A USED XS-2A & 550 METER !! BUT IT'S ALL NEW TO ME,! ANY HELP ON SETTING FOR INLAND CIVIL WAR RELIC HUNTING ?
IF 550 ON METER IS FOR US $ .25 WHERE SHOULD METER BE FOR LAED MIMI BALLS ?? AND IS CAST IRON -1525 ??
SHOULD I BE IN ALL METAL??
ANY AND ALL HELP I THANK YOU FOR.

I think there is a 540 chart on here somewhere, or google search for that info. On the other hand, if you already have a bunch of these targets laying around why not make your own chart and post it for people?

Thank you for your reply,
I would be more than glad to post a chart if I was sure of what I was doing!! also I don't know if Sov is working correctly.
Will give Google a try,

You can always send your sovereign back for calibration. That is what I did.
If you like give minelab a call and get their recommendation if unsure about your detector. Their service was great!

Can't remember exactly but i have it saved in a text file on the pc, i think it came from the SovMods web site that is no longer available

You can fix that meter to be a 180 meter like most people use. Do a search for that. It's pretty simple involving a few cheap part changes you can buy at Radio Shack. On the other hand, there are some 550 meter guys who swear by the larger number span. I don't find the 180 span to lack resolution. In fact, it's got higher resolution than an MXT or M6 which are well known gold ring machines. I think my tab graph ended up being 4 digits wider than the same tabs we swept into a friend's M6 to split hairs on rings. Remember too that there is such a thing as too high of resolution, which I found to be the case with the Explorer. It made trying to "see" patterns on rings versus trash targets much more of a blurry mess to me when I tried to develop a tab pattern for it.

SENT SOVEREIGN XS-2 PRO , METER ,& 8" COIL BACK TO MINELAB FOR CALIBRATION 3/18 , HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING BACK YET ! JUST HOPE ALL THE STUFF I SEE & HEAR ON FORMS ABOUT THEIR SERVICE IS NOT TRUE??

OH WELL! WE SHELL SEE !

I hear they like Whites have excellent service. The only dischouraging think I've heard is that older Soveigns no longer have CERTAIN parts available. You should be just fine, but Minelab is in the process of moving so that might take longer. Same deal with ordering the Accucel 6 charger from Hobby City. They are fast but it's around the time of the Chinese new year and also if anything is on back order they can take a while to ship it.
