I just got back from a trip and I use a Meter. I tested all the usual coins and some Gold Rings. I layed a Silver 50 Cent piece on the ground and it Blocked it out. I was able to get a reading on a Silver Quarter and Silver Dime. My Detector is set on Automatic Descriminate Please see if you have this coin missing also. Goldnugget-Charlotte,N.C.

GH, my XS-2 Pro hits hard on 50 cent US coins. Is this a US coin ,you may want to check the area where the coin was set. This Sovereign doesn't null on silver coins or silver rings.HH Ron

If you are running it at maximum sensitivity and that is a surface coin I could understand it freaking out a little, but not failing to pick it up at all. My GT had a 180 meter and halves always banged the meter at 181.

The XS-2A Pro I have now does not have a meter, but still screams loud for any half or that sized coin or object.

You may have been over a large patch of iron or something, Also, my Explorers and Sovereign sometimes won't hit on a coin that is laying on the surface due to the ground matrix being real bad or just the fact that the coin is above ground.

Very true - there was a dime on the surface of the sand yesterday just showing and my XS-2A Pro was crackling and acting like something was there but it was not until I raised the coil that I was able to get a tone from it.

Thanks all. I will try re-adjusting the Sensitivity. The Silver 50 cent coin was about 2 feet from the other Silver Coins
