Sovereign sniffed out one today from well hunted site

I hunted around an old home today for about an hour and a half with the Sovereign GT.
This site has been hunted hard with many detectors and the last few times I hunted here, I could hardly get a signal much less get any coins.
This site dates back to 1733 and housed British officiers that were captured during the war for independance and later was sacked during the civil war so there should be some goodies in here, but the oldest coin found so far is an 1892 Barber dime.
I searched for about 45 minutes without a signal when I got a nice response and an ID of 176 swinging from two directions.
I dug a plug and recovered a 1903 Indian head cent.
I don't believe it was over 4" down and the ground is bone dry right now.
I can't believe we just missed this coin as many times as we have hunted here, but maybe it's possible... I believe the Sovereign could see it better than the other detectors since is was not very deep.
I definately got my confidence up on this detector.
I will have to try this site after getting some rain to see if I can get some other coins.
I was amazed at after hunting for 1 1/2 hours that this was the only coin I found, but I haven't given up on it yet.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

congrats on the indian head.the gt can sniff out coins other machines miss. i have a 20x30ft patch of grass next to my house which i have hunted many many many times with my whites 5900 and garrett gta 1000. i hadnt found a coin there in over a year. then i got the gt . took a few hours to figure out what the gt was trying to tell me but once i got it dialed in i found 2 indian heads,1 v nickle and a large cent all about 8 in deep each. i also find it reads the ground best when the soil is moist . you will probably find more coins there when conditions change. also dont be afraid to dig some of those iffy signals sometimes they turn out to be coins.

I just acquired a Sovereign XS-2. So far i am liking it immensely. I found a late 1800's IH about 25 years ago; I forget the exact year. I found it under a sidewalk slab that was removed. This was the only one I have ever found. I wish i could find another. Good find!!!

very nice find whith one of the best detectors in the world
