Sovereign rehunt after two of my friends V3 and Explorer.

The Explorer and the V3 are great detectors, but it doesn't hurt to recheck the area with your Sovereign,HH Ron

It sure doesn't hurt, it is a test on your skills with the sovereign and for any detector for that reason. I see you have done very well!
With my sovereign I fear no other detector or their skill on a particular detector. I know what my detector is capable of. I know you know what I'm talking about. a highly skilled sovereign user will leave very little behind. keep up the great work Ron.

Gunnar,I found silver at this site with my Explorer and so did one of the V3 user's.The Sovereign did find about 16 wheat's left behind and another Mercury and Roosevelt dime.Anyway I know you will always find good targets missed by other hunters, but with a Sovereign you will have a great detector to find more of these missed finds.HH Ron

Wil,the Sovereign is still a metal detector that will reward a skilled user with good finds.I know the Explorer can perform very well on a salt water beach the V3 on the other hand I'm not sure,we all know this is the Sovereign's turf. HH Ron

The same happened today at a local beach in long beach ,california . I was scouting for areas not too crowed and seen a fellow detectorist swing a PI machine around a large cut. So much sand was gone i could not resist,so i broke out my trusty sovereign xs-2a pro with WOT coil.
As a courtesy, i detected well behind him working a walking grid pattern from cut to surf and back. Right off i was seeing him "ARC" his swing and KNEW he was leaving targets behind.
He was digging a few holes , but he noticed that i was digging targets at least 3 to 1. I turned to look at my areas of digs and continued working that zone of beach. He gave me the dirtiest look and said nothing to me as i stopped and decided to work far ahead of him.

Learning your machine is absolutely a must. I work iffy signals front and back ,90 degrees to found signal and wiggle.I know or i could feel that i was being watched ,but kept to myself.

NOTHING CLEANS A BEACH LIKE A SOVEREIGN even against minelab's own FBS detectors.

I run ALLMETAL and cross check with disc. (zero disc or lowest setting to work trash), with the WOT i am digging quarters at 15" plus and still can recover very small targets. I dug a small thin wire bracelet 2 feet from "his " dug hole.

I used to have that LAKER COLORED pi machine he was using but will never go back, My sovereign will never be sold .

No matter how good a detector is it all depends on who's swinging it, be it PI bbs fbs or otherwise to get the best results

Minemangold,I agree there are conditions where the Sovereign will Ecel. The guy using his metal detector must have confidence in his equipment and the tired and prove many times over Sovereign does that.HH Ron

kered I think the skills of a good hunter helps a lot.But a metal detector user with lopsided bad equipment can only do so well with depth and discrimination to recover targets. One of the best hunters around Monte with a Jetco Mustang VS. someone who has a couple weeks experience with a Ace 250 my money would be on the new guy.Unless both guys are using same grade equipment I would say 80 percent equipment and 20 percent hunter.HH Ron

Hello all here.

I'm a regular Quattro user, thinking to complete my equipment with a GT. Not really a digital guy, although my "Q" has already repaid itself several times in coins and jewelry. Beach hunter here.

From all the readings and advices I received from many GT users, and according to some reliable tests, the GT seems on par with the FBS as far as high conductive targets are concerned, and SUPERIOR to the FBS for what concerns the low conductive targets, as your US Nickels and our European 18K gold.

So I'm not surprised at all to see hunts like this one.

Just one or two questions : Which coil were you using, and more generally, do you guys use the Sov in hip mount?

Cheers

Nick

As long as minelab has the patent on fbs& bbs technology These other detector manufactures can forget about building a better detector.
Minelab could even bring back the original explorer and sovereign as throw back detectors and still blow away the competition!
Speed kills in the sport of football and bbs/fbs kills in detector technology! It will have to be a break-through in electronics to out perform out fbs/bbs technology.
I have nothing against other detectors; I'm just saying Minelab is way ahead of the game.

I'm not sure about that V3 but its color screen is very attractive. Maybe Minelab should do that on the explorers, safari and etrac. It couldn't hurt.
I remember when color tv sets came out, there was no going back to black and white sets!
I know, color screens don't find the goods.
The cordless headphones appear unique as well.
I wonder in the next 5 years what type of detector could be on the market and at what cost? its scary and exciting.

I have gone back to sites i thought i hunted out many many times..I always manage a few coins..I think weather/soil conditions Have a larger play in this game than people relize..Thats why a site is never hunted out.If you go back again..I bet you find more coins still..Thank god it works like this :) Thats a nice pile you have..Grats on the good hunt....HH

Niagra,I can find coins in areas that I rehunt with any detector. The Sovereign found more than its fair share of wheat's missed by me and other using different detectors.By the way,an old park close to my neighborhood I ran into one of the guys that has hunted this park for a few years. We talked about how the park has been mined out and doesn't give up its good finds easy. The ground conditions have changed also not as much grass, but weed and crab grass have taken over which we both hypothesize effected depth.HH Ron
