sovereign pinpointing and balancing

redbird

New member
I am up to buying one of these machines how does it balance is it automatic or manual ?
also pinpointing do I need a probe to carry for pinpointing or is it accurate on pinpointing?

I have a Sovereign XS-2. Pinpointing has been saidto be difficult. This I found is not true, infact I'd say it's the easiest of any detector I have used. Just sweep find the center then turn 90 deg and do the same. X marks the EXACT spot. I use a probe when the target is in the plug, you don't have to rip apart the entire plug or wave fistfulls of dirt in front of the coil. It's hard to beat a Sov. No groung balance is required.

Redbird, I have a SOV-GT, and No SOV has a Depth Gauge on their meters!! So, I DEFINITELY would have a PINPOINTER!! I personally recommend the
SunRay In-Line Probe, as it will mount on to your SOV, and use the SOV'S Tone ID!! But, some people don't want to spend $179 for them! But, even a Hand Pinpointer is better than NO PINPOINTER!! Hope this helps, BEST OF LUCK, hh, Les Robinson
