Sovereign in EM noise versus other detectors

Was out detecting median strips last night and the EM noise in the middle of one block was terrible. In All Metal the threshold chattered cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha continually even with Sens at Min or in Auto and Disc wouldn't ever settle to a threshold. The noise was coming through the coil, because if I switched to the S1 probe everything would settle down. I could still find shallow things, but with no threshold I'm suspicious that I have no depth. Down at the end of the block, the threshold was still a little jumpy, but smooth enough.

Here's my question: if you've been in a situation like this where All Metal chatters like those old joke wind-up teeth
- if on a GT or Elite, did switching the Band help?
- if you went back with a different detector, how did it do?
- if you've persisted through the noise, how was your depth?

I'm going to go back with the 8" coil (rather than 10") and see if the EM is related to the size of the coil.

All metal chatters nearly everywhere I hunt. Sounds like a rattlesnake. I seldom hunt in all metal, so never have to get used to it.
Have found some brutal places in disc mode. Smaller coils and less sensitivity usually helps quite a bit. Band switch does not help much.
Noise always hurts, but you can't get around it.
Other detectors work better in noise, but it will hurt them too to some extent.
