Sovereign GT - What was I thinking?!

I had a GT for 3 years and sold it 5 months ago - WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! Anyway, I ordered a new GT and it should be here by Thursday. Can't wait to get back out there with it and, it will soon be a great time to do some beach hunts. I'll never sell this one!

Thanks and happy hunting

I think one of the reasons why you don't see many used ones for sale (even the older models) and also why the GT holds it's price high used and older models still sell for more than other detectors of their age...Is because many people hold onto the Sovereign even if they add other machines to their line up. The rich language, raw power and depth, yet simple controls of the Sovereign makes it unique among many detectors out there.

Those that get to know their Sovereigns well and decide to try something different seem to always come back to the Sovereigns and wish they didn't sell the one they had before. I have said that many times that some may switch detectors, but seem many will add a Sovereign back in their collection of detectors.

Good luck with your new GT

I hear ya. I'll tell just how good it is, my first GT that I bought a few years ago cost me $725! This new one I just ordered, over $1000 but worth every penny. And this ones not going any where.

I have another on the way, with 4 coils and the SunRay S1 probe. I think this is my third, but I'll keep this one.
I didn't have the time to detect like I do now. I need to find one of the Digi meters to go along with it.

Yeah, I have my eye out for one of those meters as well.

I won't name the Findmall sponsor because I don't want them getting swamped with calls on a wild goose chase, but a little bird told me this Findmall sponsor *might* have one Minelab Digisearch meter left on the shelf, because this person asked them to check the shelf and ignore what the inventory said and they had two left that they didn't know about. BUT, that was a few weeks back. This person bought one, so maybe the other is already gone too by now?

If you can't locate a meter send Ron From Michigan (moderator) a PM as he hooks people up with one all the time who can't find one on their own.

Thanks - I appreciate the tip.

I found a used Digisearch meter and after I got it I found a used Sun Ray DTI meter which I like better for me as it sits at a better angle for me to see so I put the Sun Ray on as was going to put it on E-Bay, but haven't yet. The Digisearch is not like new and is scuffed a little, but seems to work good.

Here, Here! I've bought and tested too many machines over the years to count any more. It's usually buy, test, disappointment, sell. Then back to the Sovereign/S12 at the beach. Just wish they'd just consolidate the Excal / GT line and make a waterproof GT with a meter. Who knows, after the CTX, it may be right around the corner. Anyways, still haven't found anything to touch it on the beach. Inland... high mineralization... relic hunting - other detectors may rule that territory, but there's just nothing to touch the GT on the low mineralization beaches in FL.

I've gone down the same road. I'm not sure what it is about the GT, but I have a ton of confidence in that detector. Just two days left and it arrives!!
