Sovereign GT Spare Parts.

Seadog

New member
After considerable research, decided I must have Sovereign GT for my first detector. But as most of you know, no one in the free world has any to sell.
My question is; when I do get to purchase one, what extra hardware should I get to keep me in the field? Nuts, bolts etc.
Hope they ship some soon. Went to get out and learn how to use it.

You need the 5 inch coil for parks and ball fields. You need a big coil for the beach. Spare lower Rods for each with the tear drop washers. Spare coil bolts. A Hip mount bag. A pin pointer (the Garrett works well). A 180 meter. A power Amp. See that isn't much.

Actually just go out with it until you know it really well. Nothing beats experience.

Enjoy it. It is one of the best.

Question on the power amp:

I have been using a gt with the WOT for a few weeks and absolutely love it. I have seen an amplifier in a few posts. At the risk of asking a stupid question, what exactly does it do to enhance your detecting?

Thanks

Shaun's amp generates a higher voltage at the TX coil, which in turn results in a bigger/deeper detection field under the coil. I think I read it raises the TX coil voltage up to over 40 volts, compared to (?) probably around 9 or 10 volts normaly. I hear good things about it. Some say it will make the 10" coil go as deep as a larger coil. There are some other forms of amps out there but I think they all only are a pre-amp on the RX coil, which does nothing for the TX signal but rather tries to up the gain of the RX coil going back to the detector. Those in theory shouldn't work as well but still might have some benefit. I could be wrong but I think Shaun's amp also has a RX gain circuit that you can adjust to fine tune everything, working in conjunction with the TX amp it uses.
