Sovereign GT Question

I was out detecting in a city park this morning and working down along a sidewalk I got a 180 reading on a target that was under the sidewalk. I have detected a clad quarter under a brick but that is the first time I got a target under a concrete side walk.

Was my machine lying, Was I hearing things that were not there or is the GT capable of detecting thru at least 4 inches of concrete? There does not appear to be any wire mesh or rebar in the concrete sidewalks.

The park did reward my efforts with a 1937 Mercury Dime.

Georgian, nice find! I think the GT is quite capable of hitting a 180 coin thru sidewalk! I have noticed the same thing on my concrete sidewalk, but not sure there's a coin there or not.

George, nice find,I think it could be either re bar or a coin.It would be interesting to test this theory. Thanks for sharing.Ron

As far as I can determine there is not any wire or rebar under the sidewalks in that park. At least my GT doesnt tell me that it is there. Now the walk way for the horseshoe pits are a different story as when I get within a foot of them the GT screams at me.

I have detected a quarter thru a brick as I removed the brick and dug the quarter.
