Sovereign GT or DetectorPro Wader

New member
Posting again for anyone who has used the DetectorPro Wader-hard for me to swing anything after 55 years of detecting, starting with the Metrotech with a Metrotech 'crutch' attached 50 years ago!!

Looking at Sov. GT with hip mount vs. DetectorPro Wader with electronics in head phones.

Any advice is welcome

shannon, you may want a swingy thing as well.

Actually I chest mount my Sovereign. I like it better than the hip mount. I use a pair of Binocular suspenders from Cabelas and a pouch from the military surplus store. The only thing I find annoying is when I take a break I have to take the whole thing off my chest. But once you get the rod down to just a coil the Sovereign is very light. I know that the Wader can take some water. But as far as stability and depth the Sovereign is the clear winner. I also have the HH PI made by Detectorpro which has the same set up as the Wader. The electronics all in the headphones. I must say that it is just a pleasure to use. Hardly any weight anywhere. And for water detectors the Wader and HH PI have the comfortable Detectorpro quality headphones. Having used an Excal, and AT Pro water headphones I can tell you that the Detectorpro designers probably actually put theirs on. If weight is really an issue I would go Wader. It will prolong your hunting and keep you from hurting. If it is just an arm thing, and you can carry weight on your chest or hip the Sovereign is a great beach detector.

It only will go about 7/8 inches down....I have a used excal II on the way & will side mount it running down the side of my leg...several guy's around here do it this way & it works fine..see pic & imagine the excal on the PVC pipe...& yes I'll keep the Wader for back up....It's been a good machine just does not have the depth of the Minelab's....by the way Gary Storm of Detector Pro built the New York Excal's with the Red Headphones.....HH...Tab....Sorry about the pic..it got turned sideways when I imported it to my PC but you see what I mean.....Thanks...
