Sovereign GT meter. bottlecap and coin differences?

JASONSPAZ1

Does the "180" meter for the GT, do a good job in telling the difference between the 2 litre Coca-Coal bottle caps and coins?
Them deep caps are driving me nuts. I have been detecting a very trashy old spot. I know there are deep old coins there. I have been hunting with max disc to try and get the silver only. I only get two types of signals. Deep caps and the deep mercury dimes and wheaties. I cant tell between the two by sound so I was wondering if the meter assigns different numbers for the caps and coins.

Thanks in advance

that's a tough one for me also, but really there is a slight difference in tone, but when I douth I dig.

This is where the 180 meter does help you tell the difference as the tones are real close to one another. I think if you put a screw cap and a dime side by side you would see a difference in the tones, but they are close tones. Now a 180 meter calibrated to 180 for a new quarter the copper pennies, clad and silver will read 179-180 while those screw caps will read 177-178 with many also at 176-177 which is where the new zinc pennies, the IH pennies and some of the first Wheaties will read. There is also some that will read like a good coin but the meter helps a lot for me telling the difference in those close tones.
