Sovereign GT Head phone wire Nuisance

Buried Crap NJ

New member
I have had the GT for about 6 months and have used it mainly beach hunting with no problems. I have started to dirt hunt and found that the headphone wire is a nuisance by hitting the Threshold knob each time I place the detector down to dig. The headphones are gray ghost and have a 90 degree bend at the plug. This of coarse allows it to spin up then back down. I am guessing the easy fix would be a straight extension plug that would add 2 inches. Or maybe rubber band it to the shaft towards the coil? Any help would be great!

Wires are always a pain. I hip mount or chest mount my Sovereign. I put my hip mounted Sovereign on at the beach my last hunt. I then tried to screw the coil wire onto the bottom. I could not get that connector started to save my life. Back off with the belt. The whole time my buddy is yelling " are you going to hunt today?". Maybe try to tape the headphone wire back down under the detector to the shaft? By the way I love this stuff for taping coil wires and any other thing i am going to get wet.

I never leave on a detecting trip with out it.

a common thing guys do on tesoros for the same kinda problem is to pull the knob off, put a rubber O ring on the shaft and reinstall the knob. On the tesoros the knobs have a set screw and the sovs dont so Im not sure how it would work, but it might be worth a try if you have any O rings.
I use a set of black widows with the 90 degree plug and turn the plug wire side up towards the top of the box and that works for me.
