Sovereign GT Coil Question

Waterman

Member
I will be using a Sov/Gt in the near future with a 15" Wot coil and relying on sounds while hunting the beach's, how-ever I also plan on getting a Patrick meter for hunting parks, picnic and older yard sites. My delemma is that I can't decide on which coil to get a SunRay S-8 or a S-5. What kind of average depth can I expect in normal ground conditions, zero discrim., zero notch with each coil? Is there anyone who has used both with a Sovereign? Thanks Guys & Gals. H.H. :)

Both are excellent coils and each has their own purpose. The X5 is for those very trashy area where you need the seperaton, but not the depth. The S8 will not seperate as much, but a lot better than the 10 inch Tornado coil and give you almost as much depth as the 10 inch Tornado coil will.
So now the decision is up to you as which coil you need for your trpe of hunting, the S5 seperates target close together, so you can pick the good from the bad, the S8 dont seperate as much, but gives you more depth. Most use the S8 for their general detecting, the 10 inch or 15 inch WOT for beach and area where targets are not so close together and the S 5 is more of a specalty coil used for those very trashy area and close to metal fences and playground equipment.
