i've been thinking about a sovereign gt as my next detector but was told by several people that it is a beach detector only and not a very good one at that, their are better options, damn, back to the drawing board,i feel.maybe a fisher.blowfly

Just read some of the posts in this section, and the beach hunting one, and you'll find that its one of the best detectors ever made, for both beach and inland, the GT can even be used for prospecting.

several people whom you've spoken to don't know squat about a sov.I can guarantee you once you've learned all the aspects of this detector you WONT be disappointed!

The Sovereign is not for those that want to swing fast and dont have the patience to learn it. I will say if a person has the patience to learns the Sovereign and what it can do will also impress himself and others at what it can do. I hear of many cases where some people dont like to hunt with a person using a Sovereign as the Sovereign is getting all the older and deeper finds while the others are picking out the trash and the clad coins. Like I say you have to swing the coil slower as it see so much more and yet it hates iron and air so air test may not be good, but in the ground it can and will see the deeper targets many other will not see or give a trash signal on as it will average targets more where the Sovereign will seperate them better.

If you want a beep dig detector most will do fine, but if you want a detector that gives you more info on the target and let you decide what is good and what is not and have the patience to learn it the Sovereign is the one you want. Learning it can be as quick as a afternoon for some while others takes some time and much depends on how much you use it. With the Sovereign I highly recomend a 180 meter to help ID targets and a S-1 pinpointing probe to help find those deep targets and those on edge where the pinpointing will be off a bit.

Well it seems there are 3 possibilities for your Post. One it was just to stir up trouble, Two is that the people you talked to are pretty much clueless about what a Sov is capable of, or Three they know what it can do and do not want anymore competition and they are trying to discourage you from buying one. Still it was a very funny post :)

not trying to stir up trouble.those that i talked to mainly run explorers,x terra's and garretts.one of them just got an e trac, after giving up his explorer.experiance i think they have, maybe not with the sovereign.if i went ahead with the sovereign,i'd be the only one in the area that i know to have one! blowfly

well blowfly,,,whoever told you that dont know SHIT from CLAY,,because the sov.g.t.,is by far the best beach machine on the planet,,,and inland on pasture it just cant be beaten,,,,it dont like naily sites,as it has a slow recovery speed after nulling on iron ,,which incidentally you WONT dig,but even on these sites if you go slower after a null and go back over ,,,,you will still find stuff at ENORMOUS depth,,,if that p****s you off,,,then just like all of us,,,get a tesoro for the nails??? easy,,,comcat:ukflag:

Yeah....go with what the competition uses and stay away from that nasty Sovereign GT......Yeah that's the ticket ....don't listen to anyone on this forum....after all what do they know!!....and as for that Beachcomber character well.....He's pretty shifty.....don't trust him......:blink:  ....You are making a good choice there Blowfly!! Good luck with your new machine what ever it may be......

I'VE GOT AN X705 AND WILL LIKLEY LOOK FOR A USED SOV GT TO MUCH GOOD HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT IT... OR MAYBE I SHOULD GET A SD2200 Hmmmmm...

Hi guys powerwalker here from n ireland uk i,m considering upgrading from a soverieng xs2 to one of the newer soveriengs but i,m not sure which to get the elite or the gt can any of you help out?

Since all of them have pretty much the same performance, here is what I would do.....
Look at what you have. What if anything would you like to be different?
Download the manuals from the minelab site and look at the Elite and GT to see what they have or don't have compared to what you have. Pick the one that you like the best for features. Come here and ask about it then to see if the different features will do what you want, or if you think it may or may not be worth the trouble to change.
