Sovereign Elite not working need help

Hey guys, just wondering if any one that reads this can help. Last week I took my Elite apart, I've done this a few times before with out any problems. This time I took the board off the front plate, and the inside board out to re paint the box. I matched the color perfectly and air brushed it. It looks like it's brand new. Now I reassembled it and guess what? it doesn't work. When I put it back together and turn it on it just chirps. Does anyone have any ideas. Either way thanks in advance.

WH check where the coil wire screws in the back of box and make sure all the wires are connected to there post i had it happened to me on my 5 year old GT a wire broke off the soldier a very easy fix . Hope thats the problem as the machines get older the wires can break off get brittle when moving those boards around . I included a photo to show where i mean GL Jim

Pull it back apart, if you did not have a burnt odor it has to be something you forgot, missed or has broken loose. I have learned, the first thing I look for when opening a Excalibur is that odor of burnt electronic..if that is not there you have a chance.

Thanks guys I'm still working on it. I checked for something burning, nothing smells burnt. The wire that goes from the board J3 yellow wire then gets soldered to the ring where the coil plugs in was broken off. So I soldered it back onto that ring. Still doesn't work. I'm going to take the board out again and put the magnifiers on and check everything again. I put a multimeter on the plug that comes out of the battery holder and plugs into the face panel. It reads a 12.63 volts so it's getting power into the unit, but because I get that quick chirp and then nothing, I'm thinking it must be a short. I'm going to check all over and make sure nothing metal is touching each other. Or do you guys think it could be a ground. I hate to have to send it back into Minelab, they told me they charge $75.00 an hour. But again thanks guys, I'm hoping to figure it out. I'll keep in touch.

Here is the latest update, instead of the chirping, I did something because now I get a loud steady high pitched sound when I turn on the volume, as far as the sensitivity no response and the threshold nothing. Thanks for trying to help, but I think I lost and I'm going to have to send it out to Minelab. Thanks again.

My Elite recently went down so I did send it to ML. Fast turn around guys were great! Said they did a repair but weren't specific. When I got the unit back I was curious to see what was repaired only to discover they replaced the entire mother board. 90.00 total with shipping....a bargain! Good Luck!

I will keep you guys posted. I did find something else, when I was picking up all the nobs to put everything away I noticed one plastic washer ,I have to take the face plate off again because something is telling me that one of those nobs is supposed to have this plastic washer to separate it from metal, and maybe that's why this has one steady sound.(shorting out) Who knows? I'll keep trying for awhile.
